HUNNIC TRIBES, Western Turks. 7th century. Drachm (Silver, 29 mm, 3.13 g, 9 h), imitating a Khosrau II type with RY 35 (= 625) from the AM (Āmul) mint. Draped and crowned bust of Khosrau II to right; behind head, ‘GDE ʾp̄zwt’ (‘[may his] glory increase’ in Pahlavi); before head, ‘hwslwb’, i.e. ‘Husraw’ (‘Khosrau’ in Pahlavi); Sēnmurw(?) countermark at 2 o’clock. Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and crescent; to left, date in Pahlavi; to right, AM (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Cf. Zeno 49599. Areas of weakness and with minor scratches, otherwise, very fine.
